AhlulBayt News Agency: Iran hosted 7.4 million foreign tourists over the past year (2024/25), according to Anooshiravan Mohseni Bandpey, Deputy Minister of Tourism at Iran's Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism. Speaking at a Business-to-Business (B2B) meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, Bandpey emphasized Iran’s high security and peaceful nature, stressing the nation’s commitment to expanding tourism.
Bandpey highlighted that Iran’s Seventh Development Plan law aims to raise foreign tourist numbers to 15 million within four years. He revealed that 2,500 tourism-related projects are underway, including the construction of 500 hotels. Additionally, over 30 international airlines currently operate in Iran, while 3,000 eco-tourism accommodations are spread across picturesque areas and villages nationwide.
The deputy minister underscored the critical role of tour operators in presenting an accurate and appealing image of Iran’s safety, hospitality, and cultural richness to the global audience. He proudly noted that Iran ranks among the top 10 countries worldwide in terms of natural beauty and tourist attractions, boasting 28 tangible and 26 intangible UNESCO heritage sites. These factors establish Iran as a prime travel destination.
Concluding his remarks, Bandpey stated that tourism serves as a bridge for peace and interaction among nations, facilitating meaningful human connections. He emphasized its ability to foster mutual understanding through direct engagement between different peoples.
